Artem Panin
Senior Software Engineer · Technical Lead · Deputy Head of Development
I design and build trading systems, from the click on Buy to the venue and back.
Senior engineer with 10+ years of experience, including 6 years building trading and brokerage systems. Hands-on across order routing, FIX venue integrations, real-time market data, APIs and market-abuse surveillance. Used to the problems that keep trading systems honest: order-state consistency across disconnects and restarts, races between orders, cancels and rejects, concurrency, failover and observability. Recently led the delivery of a Java/Vert.x and Angular compliance product from initial architecture to production. Experienced in technical leadership while remaining hands-on.
Work Experience
Deputy Head of Development & Technical Lead · tick Trading Software AG
Market-abuse surveillance lead (EU MAR), deputy Head of Development, still hands-on on the trading platform.
- Surveillance API & web app: Built the product's REST/WebSocket API (Java 21, Vert.x 5) and a new bilingual Angular web app for compliance officers from scratch, from first commit to production in ~10 months; sized for ~3.5M orders a month and being rolled out to the ~12 banks and brokers that run the product.
- Technical lead: Own the roadmap, architecture, specifications and delivery dates; lead a small team; set up customer UAT with Ops; introduced OIDC sign-in (Keycloak, Microsoft Entra ID, MFA).
- Detection engine: Implemented the insider-trading detector and co-reworked momentum-ignition detection, in an engine that screens for 8 families of market abuse.
- Deputy Head of Development: Sprint planning, weekly engineering health checks, company strategy meetings; stand in for the Head of Development.
Software Engineer, trading platform · tick Trading Software AG
White-label trading platform behind the retail trading apps of German direct banks and online brokers; hands-on across its ~70 repositories, from the venue gateways to the apps.
- Order management & APIs: Hands-on on a platform that handles hundreds of orders per second from numerous banks and brokers at ~50 ms on average: MiFID II-compliant order flow, market-making and RFQ infrastructure, real-time order and portfolio streams, with order and portfolio state kept consistent when executions arrive late.
- Venue gateways: Designed and implemented FIX connectivity for CATS and Tradegate; extended an eight-venue trading infrastructure with advanced order types, auction-phase support and host failover, with order-state recovery after FIX session drops and restarts.
- Market data: Rewrote the Börse Stuttgart master-data import from Python to Java, worked on the LS Exchange trade and price feeds, connected a bank's own pricing system as a market-data plugin, and handled the regular Deutsche Börse T7 release upgrades.
- Trading apps: Made the white-label web trading app share one live connection and one settings state across all open browser tabs; added 1-second intraday candles end to end, from the history API to the chart; kept Time & Sales responsive under heavy load in the pro desktop client. Regular Angular and Capacitor upgrades.
Software Engineer · Polarion (Siemens PLM Software)
Polarion ALM, Siemens' application lifecycle management platform, on an unusual stack: Eclipse Equinox (OSGi) with SVN as the persistence layer.
- Product development: Full-stack features and fixes across LiveDocs, test management and work items, from the Java/OSGi backend to the GWT web UI, plus a custom extension for a customer.
- UI modernisation: In a dedicated developer + UX team, redesigned the product's entire web frontend, replacing a dated look with a new visual language and SVG icons throughout.
Java Software Developer · MoySklad (LogneX)
A leading Russian cloud service for inventory, retail and online-trade management.
- Public API: Took on a large share of the API team's work: new REST endpoints, SOAP services and the API documentation, plus integrations with the 1C accounting system, online stores and bank-statement import over the banks' OAuth APIs.
- Point of sale: Worked on a new Scala.js POS client connected to fiscal cash registers (ATOL, Evotor): store-stock synchronisation and sales registration.
- Team lead: Co-led a team of five developers: sprint planning, process, retrospectives.

AI engineering
- Agent environments: safe, virtualised setups for coding agents in a highly regulated codebase; sandboxed agent loops on my product's real tickets, every change under my review
- Enablement: agentic-coding talk, the company-wide AI usage guidelines, the LiteLLM proxy rollout, a framework for non-developers to build their own tools
- Integrations: exotic model-provider APIs taken apart and wired into the agent harness
- Tooling: my own MCP servers; knowledge bases for agents and humans, among them an agent-maintained map of a ~70-repository trading platform
Leadership
- Tech Lead (since Oct 2025): team and PM alignment, delivery planning, architecture docs, customer UAT and calls
- Deputy Head of Development: team health, process improvement, dev infrastructure, stand-in for the Head of Development
- Earlier: co-led a developer team for a couple of sprints at MoySklad (LogneX), 2016
